Skillsets for a positive future.

Skillset is the new name for Central West Group Apprentices, one of Australia’s largest Group Training Organisations.

We were established in 1982 as a not for profit company limited by guarantee owned on behalf of the community by Chambers of Commerce and Councils in western NSW.

We continue with the same membership to this day but our role has evolved over the last 30 years.

We continue to employ apprentices and trainees and host them out to local businesses. Last year we employed 1241 people in our Group Apprenticeship Program.
In 1999 we established our registered training arm offering traineeship programs. Today we have a number of nationally recognised qualifications on our scope and last year we provided training to 745 students.

In 2007 we developed an international presence, working with the East Timor Development Agency in Dili to offer internships in the tourism and hospitality sector. In 2008 we established the London Apprenticeship Company as the first Group Training Company in the UK.

In 2010 we established the workforce development team that works with business to tailor recruitment and training solutions that improve workplace productivity.

Our latest initiative is to establish the Flannery Centre as a sustainability skills centre. It will also be the support centre for all the services we offer:

  • Apprenticeships
  • Training
  • Workforce Development
  • Sustainability
