A Traineeship is a work based training program which combines paid employment with structured training. Traineeships result in nationally recognised qualifications and are available across a wide number of industry areas.

At Skillset, Traineeship training is primarily carried out on-the-job. You will be given a self paced workbook to guide your on the job learning, given a workplace supervisor to help you and assigned a workplace assessor who will visit you regularly to make sure you are progressing well.

With over 500 classifications, traineeships have been introduced in to cover a wide variety of non trade areas in recent years.

However, there are also a number of traineeships which can "articulate" into an apprenticeship . For example, automotive, engineering, hospitality and electrical.

A Skillset Trainee

Skillset runs a "Group Program" where Skillset employs the Trainee and places them with a ‘host company’ that provides on-the-job training and experience.

The host company chooses which Trainee they will take using the rigorous recruitment process we provide. You have to win one of these jobs to be eligible to become a Skillset Trainee.

Each Skillset Trainee is assigned a 'Field Officer' who will work with them throughout their Traineeship to ensure that they are getting paid correctly and on time, that the training is of a high quality, that there are appropriate safety standards in place and to monitor the relationship between the Trainee and their Host Company.

With this support Skillset Trainees have a much higher chance of completing their qualifications.
